I cannot increase the size of the search box and the arrow to do so does not appear.
My search box suddenly got very small. I have no idea why. I cannot make it larger, no matter what I try. Putting the cursor to the left of it does not give me a double-headed arrow. I can only see a few letters in the box now, and the location bar is huge. How can I fix this?
This happened
Every time Firefox opened
== I was working online, and one minute it was ok, the next time I went to use it the box was tiny. I don't know exactly what I was doing when it happened, but nothing to do with adjusting anything on my computer, just working online.

Hello Cindy.
You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in safe mode and select Disable all add-ons. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See this article for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.
You may also want to try restoring your interface to its default configuration. Go into View > Toolbars > Customize... > Restore default set to do that.
Thank you. I followed your suggestions. At first the search bar was ok in safe mode, tiny in regular mode, even with add ons disabled, but I discovered that the sizing arrow returned once the add ons were disabled, so I now have a search bar I can use. Since I am a writer and do searches all day long every day, I need something I can see! Good solution -- thanks! I will worry about troubleshooting the add ons later. I don't really use them any more anyway.
