Pop up windows don't open or have a very long delay-why?
When i visit certain websites and I click on a link that would open another window it often doesn't open. Sometimes I will come back to my Mac 30 mins later to find that they have all opened. Some sort of delayed reaction that can take 10's of minutes.
Sites where i have experienced this today are http://www.warrensmith-skiacademy.com/ then trying to click onto course availability. Also http://www.findaproperty.com/displayprop.aspx?edid=00&salerent=0&pid=6256674 when i try to click on map nothing comes up. There are other websites where I have the same type of difficulties.
If i transfer over to Safari everything is OK. This problem also didn't used to be an issue when I was running Leopard OS I'm now running latest Snow Leopard.
Does anyone have any ideas or is it just that Firefox is very buggy with OSX 10.6 ?

I tried on http://www.warrensmith-skiacademy.com/ with Firefox 3.6 on Mac OS 10.6 and it works fine.
Try going through these steps: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes , extensions/themes/plugins may considerably slow down Firefox.
Some additional questions that may help track down the problem: - does this always happen when opening a new window (e.g. using File -> New Window) - when popups on some sites open slower, do popups on other sites still open fast? - do popups generally open slow or does it get slower the longer you use Firefox without quitting it?

For over 2 years, i enjoyed using my firefox browswer. I used have several extensions, add-ons installed. Very recently, i started observing that while trying to open external links from a website, where a pop-up comes out and starts displaying the contents takes enormously huge amount of time upto 5-10mins.
I couldn't fix this, i feel it is because of a certain extension or theme or add-on that i have, i am unable to make out which one the extension is causing this problem
please help, i dont want to uninstall and re-install again.
Chaitanya, post in a separate thread please with the list of extensions and plugins you have installed.
Did you try Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems? It make take some time, but it's the best method we have to troubleshoot issues caused by extensions.
Downgrading from Firefox 3.6.8 to 3.6.6 has fixed this problem for many users. Hey developers---this is a big clue to the where the problem might lie!
I have been having the same problem. And I feel like it's been only recently that I've had this problem. When popups open that don't have their own address bar, they remain blank for a long time. When I open the same popups on safari, they open no problem. The same has been happening with facebook videos.. When facebook tries to access the webcam, nothing happens (I haven't been patient enough to see if it eventually loads- I just open Safari and use that instead) I have stumbleupon and gamebox installed. I have had stumbleupon for a while, though, and I don't think this problem has persisted for that long.
Excellent Technique ! I have only four extensions ( AdBlock Plus, FastestFox, HuluButton, & iMacros For FF ). My surfing had been snail-like.
Disabling all extensions then restarting after each extension re-install has restored my iMac to its former speedy self.
I appreciate AdBlockPlus more than the other three which I have not yet knowingly used. AdBlockPlus keeps my screen very clean of clutter.
This method for invigorating my computer works very well.
