All bookmarks and settings are lost even in firefox sync after reinstall

inte

Hi,

firefox startet to crash frequently on my iphone (iOS 26.7.1). It was not even possible to scroll through the settings menu, and Background App Refresh was greyed out in the iOS settings for firefox. Therefore I reinstalled it. Afterwards, all settings were gone. I have synced the phone to my firefox account (which I use for 20+ years) only to learn that all bookmarks seem to be gone in firefox sync as well. Can you recover my bookmarks, please? What kind of a weired crash did I experience at all? Have I been hacked?

Thank you in advance!

That sounds incredibly frustrating, especially for someone who has been using the same Firefox account for so many years. I think this highlights an important issue with browser synchronization: users often assume that syncing their data means everything is safely backed up, but those two things aren't always the same. Before assuming the account was hacked, I'd want to check whether the bookmarks are still available on another synced device or whether the correct Firefox account was used after reinstalling. Still, losing years of saved bookmarks is a serious concern, and Mozilla should make it much clearer how users can protect and recover their data. Hopefully, there's a way to restore everything without having to rebuild the entire collection manually. Has anyone else experienced something similar on iOS?
