How can I tell if my version of Firefox is actually running its own VPN?

I'm just trying to figure out how I can tell if my up-to-date version of Firefox is actually using its own VPN. It said it would when I installed it, but I can find anything that says, yes, it's running.

Hi,

The VPN is not running unless you've enabled it yourself. To learn more about the built-in VPN, please see Use built-in VPN in Firefox.

Finally got it enabled. Sure seems a lot more complicated than it should be, but now I've got it and thanks for your help -- even if you are AI!
