My Thunderbird has no "Write" button

I want to send an email to an address book list. I've searched for how to do it, and a "Write" button is needed but I do not have one. I tried right c,licking on the upper bar and chose customise. I see various buttons to add including "Write", but nothing I do adds it.

Hello, This is Zembu again, I've now found how to put the write button on the Menu Bar, and have done it, but it still doesn't help me to send a mail to all recipients on an address list. According to instructions I've seen - I should highlight the address list heading, then click on "Write". An email should then appear with the address list in it. But this does not happen.

The name of the address list will appear in the To: field while you're composing the message, but not the individual addresses. However, the individual addresses will be visible to the recipients (unless you put the list name in the BCC slot) and in the copy in your Sent folder.
