How to change settings so that when I right-click 'compose a message' the main window doesn't also open
Mozilla Thunderbird Snap for Ubuntuubuntu-snap-build - 1.0
Just want to open a 'compose a message' without the extra main window also opening.
Tried to ask AI - that was no help - no surprise.

Where is the right-click option to compose a message?
Ubuntu 24.04
Right click Thunderbird icon in the Ubuntu dock
Menu pop up says: New Window Compose a New Message Contacts Unpin App details - latest/stable 153.0-2
Left click Compose a New Message and the new message window opens along with the main window if not already opened.
I see. I'm sorry that I don't know what would cause an extra main window to be opened. Perhaps someone else does.
I just tested this with several flavors of Ubuntu and Mint Linux, and Windows 10 and 11. They all behaved consistently: the behavior wasn't present in 140.x but is in 153.x, so it was introduced in the meantime. It may have to do with this bug report:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1922919
Upshot being that Thunderbird didn't always work correctly when the full program was not loaded. It sounds like they may have recently implemented the fix described in the article.
I know of no way to avoid it.
