"This is a special account, with no identeties" is the info. The choise "Delet" is "shaded", and not active. The account has not been used for years.

Are you trying to delete the "Local Folders" account? You cannot do that. Local Folders is a built-in "account" that is used to store messages only on your computer. Removing it would remove important functions from Thunderbird.
There is nothing in the account. I have deleted other accounts no longer used - without problems. The problem with this account is the delet-function is inactive. Why?
Because, as I said, removing it would remove important functions from Thunderbird. As you read, it is a special account. It is not like other accounts, which can be deleted. The local folders account cannot be deleted.
The question is then: is one account different from the other 5 I have deleted? All 6 were opened the same way. Furthermore: how can Thunderbirds function relay on one account?
@sihold, Rick is right, you cannot delete the Local Folders "pseudo account". But you can hide it via the context menu of the ••• Folder Pane Options button...

You did not confirm that you are trying to delete the Local Folders "account". Are you?
If that is the account that we are talking about, you did not create it. As I said, it is built-in to Thunderbird. How can Thunderbird's function rely on one account? As I said, it is used to store messages only on your computer, that is, messages that are not associated with a server account. Mapenzi's use of "pseudo-account" is helpful. Local Folders is not an account in the same way that other accounts are.
Thank you for the answer. I have used Thunderbirds for many years, and never known that Local Folders is a special account. "Cuban 8" is the mentioned account, as you know "sihold" is the one in use. When I press the "Hide local folders" having Cuban 8 up, hopefully sihold will remain?
