Memory leak > Thunderbird 140.12.1esr, even with TB started in Troubleshoot Mode

Olivier

Hi,

I'm running the latest version of Thunderbird 140.12.1esr on 15.7.7 (24G720) on an M1 processor.

I'm witnessing Memory leak > Thunderbird who usually use 800MB jumps to Gb up to 60Gb

It makes this version unusable.

Here is a loom of the incident: https://www.loom.com/share/0b8e661b42d64d749d80adfd71fd1e04

+ a screenshot

Anyone can help ?

Best Olivier

do you mean version 152 ?

Actually not resolve

I downloaded the latest version available on the official website : Thunderbird 152.0.1

and it's the same, except it starts a little later

I've tried troubleshoot mode > same I've removed all contact book > same

this version has a memory bug

Did the problem occur in 140.12.1esr, which you mentioned in your first message?

Yes, I've updated with 152.0.1 , same issue.

I have 140.12.1esr running on an M1 Mac with macOS 15.7.7. I do not have this problem. So I assume that there is something unusual in your system.

You already know that the problem occurs in troubleshooting mode.

The next thing that I would try is running the Mac in safe mode. See if the problem occurs then.

Then I might try, without optimism, uninstalling Thunderbird (the app, not your profiles), and re-installing it. Re-installing fixes problems only very rarely. It may be worth trying in this case.

Sometimes we technical people can push our systems into difficulty. What's unusual about your system?
