Android version vs desktop version

I currently have Thunderbird installed on both my android and desktop (W11). My android inbox does not mirror my desktop. For example, desktop inbox shows many more emails than the android inbox. The ones that are in both are the same. Why doesn't the android inbox mirror the desktop version?

Additionally, I used receive a ton of junk mail when using Edison mail. Now I receive very little. Sounds like a good thing but occasionally one gets flagged as span and it isn't. They continue to show up in the Edison mail spam folder but not in Thunderbird.

I was hoping to drop Edison mail and use Thunderbird exclusively, but I need the confidence before doing so.

What protocol are you using for the server connection, imap or pop3. Pop3 is the legacy protocol and has limited capability versus imap. It doesn't support folders and intended for use with a single client.

Imap only folder sync

For emails in a folder to automatically sync, you need to enable the sync setting on each folder. Inbox is on by default.

To check a folder (TB Android)

  1. Open the account list
  2. Tap an account
  3. Tap manage folders (bottom of list)
  4. Tap a folder name (Spam as example)
  5. Toggle "sync" on

The app downloads messages up to 32KiB in size (default value). If you notice large sized emails have not downloaded, You can increase the max size. Navigate to settings > account > fetching mail > fetch messages up to:

Pop3 is more complex as it was never designed with multi-client use in mind. If you confirm a pop3 setup, some suggestions can be offered.
