I live in Denmark, and i have send an e-mail to a friend in USA. He told me in the phone that he replied to my e-mail, but i did not receive anything from him. Any ideas on what i can do to receive e-mails from him in the future..? Regards Allan

I would:

  1. Ask your friend to check his sent messages folder to confirm that the message was sent.
  2. Sign in to webmail and see if the message is on the server. Check inbox, spam, junk.
  3. Check if you have a quick filter or a message filter set that is affecting which messages are in your inbox and visible.

Hi Rick Thank you for your reply. 1. My friend says that he did not get any errors, as he usually do if the mail isn't send. 2. I checked my webmail, but found nothing there. 3. I tried to look for any filters, but couldn't find any. Maybe that's because i'm not an expert with computers. I'm thinking, maybe i should just make a g-mail to use for communication to the us. Hi a.hertz,

1. Well, that does not answer my question. If your friend cannot find a copy of a sent message, we don't know that there is even a problem here. :) Ask him to send another message. Look for it in webmail first, not Thunderbird.

2. Did you check spam, junk, bulk, whatever your e-mail service calls it?

3. If you had filters either on the server or in Thunderbird, you would probably remember setting them up. Sometimes people have a quick filter set in Thunderbird (see my attached screen image) that they do not mean to have, and that prevents them from seeing some messages. But if you cannot find your friend's message in webmail, then Thunderbird is not an issue here.

I'm thinking, maybe i should just make a g-mail to use for communication to the us.

As opposed to what? Who is your e-mail service provider now?
