Can't delete email from inbox

Some inbox entries cannot be deleted. When deletion is attempted the body text is removed but the Subject and Correspondent remain in the Inbox and the message is marked as unread. This seems to be mainly with email originating from Outlook. Tried restarting Thunderbird but no change. Is there a setting that might do this?

Chosen solution

Try the same procedure I mentioned on the Trash folder.

Try R. click Inbox > Properties > click Repair folder button, then R. click Inbox > Compact.

Thanks Ed, that helps somewhat. Messages that have been deleted directly on the Outlook server (using a phone or TB on another PC) but still show in Thunderbird are removed by the Repair Folder process. Messages that have not previously been deleted on the server cannot be deleted in Thunderbird. This problem occurs only on one computer, which suggests it may be a Settings issue.

That seems to fix the problem. Many thanks. I find it surprising that a damaged Deleted folder would prevent deletion from the Inbox. But hey - it seems to work, so thanks - F
