‘We formerly had our email with Cox Communications, and had used Thunderbird. Cox ended their email and said we should use yahoo.com and we could keep our email address, which is [edited] @cox.net.’ Can we still use [edited email from public forum] @cox.net for ‘Thunderbird’ as well? I definitely prefer Thunderbird!

If you already have the account in TB with Cox servers, it should be sufficient to change the incoming and outgoing settings to Yahoo's.

incoming: imap.mail.yahoo.com, 993, or pop.mail.yahoo.com, 995; SSL/TLS, OAuth2, email address

outgoing: smtp.mail.yahoo.com, 465, SSL/TLS, OAuth2, email address

Enter the account password in the OAuth window when asked to allow TB access.
