getting rid of new vertical sidebar

How do I get rid of new, but stupid vertical sidebar? I do NOT NEED OR WANT even MORE junk taking up the screen space. Is Mozilla part of Microsoft now? How do I get rid of that junk?

Hi there,

  1. Click the menu Fx89menuButton button and select Settings.
  2. Firefox Settings tab will open. Scroll down to the Browser Layout section and uncheck Show sidebar.

I do have that box unchecked, yet this hideous sidebar is still polluting my browser.
