Thunderbird email compose screen freezing (on laptop)
I am getting sick and tired of Thunderbird freezing while writing an email, screen graying out, and having to close the program and lose the material without it having been saved in any way. This has been happening for two or three weeks.

Try this:
- go to TB menu > Settings > General
- scroll all the way down and click the 'Config editor' button on the right
- click 'Accept the risk and continue'
- search for accessibility.force_disabled > change the value to 1 > click the check mark
- restart TB
Ed, I did not see any "accept the risk and continue," but I did the search, changed the number to 1, restarted TB, repeated the procedure and saw the number 1 was still showing. Now I'll wait and hope it doesn't freeze again. Thank you for this help. Jonelle
jinkem, Your problem is gone?
No, it still occurs occasionally, but at least a draft is now saved (sometimes partial). I noticed a couple times it happened when I was inserting a link. Other times there was no obvious explanation. I have wondered if, when typing, it may happen if I overlap onto an adjacent key, but this is only occasional.
I've used Thunderbird for years and never have had this problem previously.
What version are you using? And does it help to disable hardware acceleration in Settings?
Using version 140.4.0esr (64-bit) I've now disabled hardware acceleration. I'll see if it happens again.
