I am almost at giving up point.-- trying to connect to my Office365 - try various settings , but the ones last used was this :

at one stage I could get messages via IMAP - but that also now broken ....

Ok, SMTP is mail sending, IMAP is getting mail from the mail server. You use both for a standard mail account with outlook.com.

So perhaps you could share the actual error message you see as it is difficult to offer support when you have no information to work with.

Is it a work account? Has your employer disabled IMAP accounts?
