To open a new tab, you should long press the "square with a number" icon, it's not necessary to duplicate this feature in the menu.

That's why I called this an accessibility issue, not a functionality one. There is a meaningful difference in the ability of folks to hit a button on the top right of a screen, followed by a large bar, compared to hitting a very small button not in the corner. Seems like a simple thing, but makes operating the thing a lot harder with fingers that don't cooperate right.
