downloaed old email
I have a small laptop I use when out of the office. It has very little memory. So for that copy of Thunderbird, I don't want all the old emails to be downloaded, just new and the few most recent, say two weeks or a month worth. Can I limit the downloads of old email or make them on demand?

Yes you can by configuring Synchronization and Storage in Account setting to the most recent <N> days
Great I set that. When I originally set up the account on this machine it downloaded all the old emails at that time. How can delete them from this machine without deleting them from the server or other machines? Setting the limit to 1 month didn't delete the already existing old email messages.
If this is a POP account, you can safely delete from your PC with not impact on server.
