Mails will not open in Mail-Window
Hi!
When I click on an Email in the Email-list it will not open in the Mailwindow. Also it will not be marked as read. Same thing with doupleclicking the Mail. It will open the Mail-Tab but it is empty and the Mail is still marked as not yet read. New Mails are downiaded and appear in the Maillist. I´m using Thunderbird 141.0 in Windows 11.
Help...!!! ;-)

Sorry: All this started after updating to 141.0...
Yes. Same Thing...
Try to "repair" the Inbox folder: R-Klick (on folder) > Properties > Repair Folder....
I'll try that tonight. But it's Not only The inbox-folder. It's the Same with every single Mail in every folder...
I have no idea how you use and work with Thunderbird. Sometimes it is an erroneous "view" setting which can cause a pseudo problem. Can you show an anonymised screen shot of your Thunderbird main window ? Here's a picture of my main window
Hi Mapenzi!
Sorry, took a while. Thanks for your effort!
Repairing Inbox-Folder doesn´t help. Neither for the inbox nor any other folder.
Screen Shot is attached. Sorry, a lot of Mails but up to now it always worked... First Mail is selected but Mailwindow is completely empty. No Header, no message, no replybuttons, nothing...
I fiddled around with a friend and also had the idea it might have something to do with view settings. We compared settings (not only view settings) between his computer and mine and everything seems to be the same only that his Thunderbird works fine...
Thanks for the picture. At least we can get some information without identifying the cause of this disorder. You use the classic view a message pane where message content should be displayed after a simple click on a message in the thread pane. If I understand your problem description nothing happens if you click oder double-click oder R-click on a message. Is thunderbird frozen (non responding) at the moment of your screen shot ? Or can you do other actions such as open the Calendar tab, write a new message, open the Settings tab, ...etc
What strikes me most is the size of your Inbox folder: 86.400 messages is very much for an Inbox folder, this corresponds to about ten GB in the Inbox file in the profile I have seen less big Inbox files being wrecked in Thunderbird. Did this problem occur suddenly or rather suddenly? Is Thunderbird slow when you launch it and or are there other anomalies you noticed? Can you monitor %CPU consumption by Thunderbird? Do you compact your folders from time to time? Did you try to repair the Inbox folder? R-click on Inbox > Properties > Repair folder First thing to do: make a backup copy of your big Inbox file.
Modified
Everything else works perfectly normal: Switching folders, Calendar operation, receiving and sending emails. No freezing. No slowing down. Thunderbird is usin 0-0.1% of the CPU.
Thunderbird regularly asks me to compress folders and I do so when ever it fits.
Yes, I told Thunderbird to repair the inbox folder without any change in behaviour. I also repaired an other folder but the other folder still reacts the same as the inbox.
Problem occoured directly after updating to 141.0.
Which are the sizes of the folders refusing to view (display) messages? Your issue resembles https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1966256 : "v138.0.1 Severely Broken - Can't view any message - if anything in profile was using UNC path" Do you use an UNC path to your message storage?
All folders are refusing to show the text in the mails. Size doesn´t matter. Sorry I can´t open your link...
My mail files are stored and opend from a NAS (Synology DS218+) wich is mounted as network folder in windows explorer (\\192.168.0.xxx\public). Is that UNC?
Sorry, there was a sign : at the end of the URL which shouldn't be there! Try this one https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1966256 I am not very familiar with NAS and UNC, maybe someone else can reply. I was pretty sure that this bug had been fixed in TB 141 or even before.
I´m not sure either but I think UNC is something different. The path to the files was the same and worked for years and hasn´t changed for TB141.0... But yes: The effect seems to be the same...

Your path may have worked for years but Thunderbird developers have blocked certain UNC paths only recently! But I am astonished since I thought that bug 191724 had been fixed with TB 140 or even before.
I guess that you are German spoken, so you may read this discussion about this issue https://www.thunderbird-mail.de/forum/thread/96856-nachrichteninhalt-wird-nicht-angezeigt-und-e-mails-nicht-l%C3%B6schbar/?pageNo=1 Also open the error console which might provide information to adapt your path menu Tools > Developer Tools > Error Console
Hey,
you seem to be on the right track...:
See what the error console says: .jpg
But how do I add the adress to the list of allowed hosts? I can´t find anything in the settings...
You also read that it is no problem if the profile is also on the same unc path...
Where is my profile and can I move ist to the Synology?
Found and added this: .jpg
but it doesn´t help...
Do I need to enter it a different way...?!?
Sorry, this is a little over the edge of my knowlege...

Your profile folder is here: menu Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profiles > about:profiles (see picture from my Mac). I'm not familiar with networks and Synology, maybe another volunteer can help for this.
The following lines are in German, cited from a reply of the 'TheNakedPirate' in this discussion in the German forum

1. Es ist das UNC Problem. 2. Betrifft Version ab 138.x.1 und 128.10.1 3. Workaround mit Netzlaufwerbuchstabe funktioniert. 4. Bin sauer
The workaround consists in an adaptation "of the letter of the network drive", but I cannot tell you how to proceed.
The workaround with the network drive letter works...!!!
Wow! Thank you sooooooo much!!! I would probably never have found or understood this... And still don´t... ;-)
Adding to the allowd hosts seems somehow better but I don´t get ist to work so I´ll take it the way it is now and hope it stays. But I´m still open for advice... ;-)
THANK YOU!
Congrats and thank you for the feedback!!
