Hi,

Since your latest update I have to daily sign in into all my accounts again. Why? How can this be fixed?

Further how to deactivate updates as issues like this are too often.

Thank you< Tobias

Hey Tobias,

Let's try to fix this for you. First, running Thunderbird in Troubleshoot Mode (Help > Troubleshoot Mode) might help; this can tell you if an add-on is causing the issue.

If that does not help anything, then let's move on to this:

  • In Thunderbird, go to Tools -> Settings -> Privacy & Security (or Thundrbird Menu -> Settings on macOS/Linux)
  • Under Saved Passwords, remove the saved entries for each account
  • Restart Thunderbird, then sign in again for each account
  • Make sure “Remember password” is checked when you sign in

First, I did not add any addons. There was a simply update of Thunderbird happening.

Second the saved password are not there if I don’t enter new ones.

Thunderbird will remove passwords if it repeatedly can not sign in with them. This is often the case when folks use third party antivirus products that block access post updates until they get a notification from their home office that the new version is not a virus.

I really have no idea what your system uses, but I have had no problems at all with lost passwords post updates for a number of years now. Once about 60 versions ago 68 I think, I skipped an update and that led to issues with saving changes to passwords, but you are not saying that.

No, I didn’t do anything. Somehow there was a thunderbird update and now I need to sign in into all account every time. Any other recommendations apart from Thunderbird?

I have this problem too. Removing the password, restarting Thunderbird and re-entering it did not work. I still have to repeatedly sign in to use Thunderbird. I do not have any add-ons.

I am using Thunderbird on both my laptop and on my PC - does anyone know if that would that have anything to do with the problem?
