write not working can receive and reply but can not WRITE a new email

there is a bug in recent release that causes this to happen if there is no default email account defined. please go to account settings and verify. the default account will have a star icon to the right of name.
Is there a button on the right with wording such as 'set as default'?

Click the button and that will fix the problem.
