Unable to receive e-mails on Thunderbird, I am prompted to enter a password for Orange, and none of the passwords works
I can't receive or send e-mails. The software asks for a password for pop.orange and none of the passwords I have works. I am thus in a no-man's-land. Perforce, I use the Orange e-mail client, which hasn't the capabilities of the Thunderbird client. . The other facilities - addresses, calendar, all work.
I shall be grateful if you would please direct me to a fail-safe solution enabling me to arbitrarily impose a password which I can generate using Norton password manager, and once again receive and send e-mails?

Check that POP/IMAP access is enabled, if it's a new account, and generate an app password to use in TB in place of the account password:
Dear Sfhowes,
It's kind of you to answer, but I'm afraid I have already tried this Orange-based solution, and it doesn't work, chiefly I suspect because the format of the Orange-generated password doesn't comply with the Thunderbird formatting requirements: the code Orange generated for me is all in lower-case alphabetic characters.
Thanks anyway, and success to your e-endeavours,
With kind regards,
Adam Warren.
