Can't sleuth why TBird is showing my outbound Sent messages twice consecutively. Every messages display twice with the same time stamp. I'm SMTPing into a personal Outlook account with no issues, and receivers are only seeing one message.

Gmail and outlook.com accounts automatically copy sent messages to Sent Mail and Sent, respectively, so uncheck 'Place a copy in' in Account Settings/Copies & Folders.

What are your account settings in Copies & Folders for saving sent messages?

I am guessing that you are saving in "Sent Items" or similar but the server automatically saves sent messages there, so your copies are duplicates.

Try turning off saving of sent messages, send yourself a test message, and see what gets saved.
