How do I get a new password when I forgot my password?

You need to contact the email provider if you need a new password. All thunderbird does is store the one you give it.
I contacted Spectrum and first they said they didn't do that anymore. After talking a while I got them to give me the following: (sjr1e88a) and it didn't work. Now what can I do?
I got to my (in-box) but it must be a new one. Can't get junk mail, arcives and address book. So only partially working. Harry
