This can happen for a few reasons—for example, an update might reset certain customizations or a background configuration (or even a user.js file in your profile) might be reverting your settings.

Here are some steps you can try:

Check Your Preferences:

   – Go to Firefox’s Options (or Preferences) → General and verify your home page URL(s) and settings. Sometimes a major update resets these values.
   – If your homepage is meant to display your pinned icons, make sure you haven’t accidentally switched to a default page.

Customize Your New Tab/Home Page:

   – If you use Firefox’s new tab page (about:newtab) that shows quick-access icons, click the “Customize” button and see if you can drag your desired icons back onto the page.
   – Use the “Restore Default Set” option if available.

Check Configuration Settings:

   – Open about:config and look for settings like browser.chrome.favicons. (In some past cases, when this was set to false, icons disappeared.) Double‑click it to set it to true if needed.

Review Your Profile Files:

   – If you use a custom user.js file in your Firefox profile, it might be automatically resetting your preferences on startup. Temporarily rename or remove that file to test if your icons stay in place.

Run in Safe Mode:

   – Restart Firefox in Safe Mode (Help → Restart with Add-ons Disabled) to check whether an extension is interfering. If the icons remain in Safe Mode, it points more toward a configuration or profile issue.

Refresh Firefox:

   – As a last resort, you can refresh Firefox (via Help → Troubleshooting Information → Refresh Firefox). This creates a new profile while preserving bookmarks and passwords, which might resolve recurring customization resets.

If none of these steps work, it might be a bug introduced in the latest update. In that case, consider reporting it on Mozilla’s support forum or Bugzilla. Meanwhile, keeping a backup of your custom settings (or even your entire profile) can help you quickly restore your home page layout after an update.
