Latest update 115.3.3. Can't enlarge 'displayed' message box to suitable size?

Thunderbird decided to update itself to 115.3.3 (64-bit) today. Not pleased.

The main screen is basically divided in to three areas (boxes). On the left I have my different email accounts, lower down I have my folders for saved messages (1).

Top right is showing message headers (Subject, From, Recipient, Date etc.) (2).

Under the above box is more details of message header, then under that is the message 'body'.

I can easily change the vertical divider bar between the left box (1) and the two stacked boxes on the right (2), Good :)

However the horizontal divider between the top right box and the bottom right box has limited movement, so I'm unable to enlarge the message 'body' section (3) to be able to read more than a line or two. Also it would help if the top of section 3 where the From, To, Subject and Date are repeated from box 2 were removed (as I said, they're repeats of box 2) leaving more space for the message body contents.

I've found some settings for font size which helped a little, but how do I improve on what you can see in my image please?

I suspect I could change the screen resolution, but with my poor eye sight, how do I read the text in other programs?

Thanks in advance

How to increase the height or width of the Message Pane:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1427439#answer-1611585

The Header Pane height can be reduced to a single line with the Compact Headers add-on. Also, consider View/Layout/Vertical View for a larger Message Pane. The Header Pane can be hidden with css, or just the buttons, with an add-on.

Sorry, there's more...

When I open up the Message Filters page/frame, it fills the whole screen and cuts off the Run button at the bottom of the page.

I've tried grabbing the edges of the page/frame to drag the page/frame in, but can't. Trying the buttons in the top right doesn't help. When I grab the edge of the top of the page/frame it just moves the whole page/frame down, rather than resizing the page/frame.

BTW I'm using Windows 11

Thank you sfhowes.

I did like the way it was, so bit upset its all been messed with.

I'm currently trying to save all the emails, so I can reformat the HDrive as I believe some of my programs have been corrupted, so reluctant to attempt to start coding (I don't fully understand the instructions, sorry), especially as the Message Filters page/frame is also playing up.

Not sure which way to turn now. Sorry.

For the Message Filters window, does the same thing happen in safe/troubleshoot mode (hold Shift when launching TB)? If it works better in safe mode, launch again in safe mode, 'Reset toolbars & controls', 'Make changes & restart'.

Thank you sfhowes,

I'll give it a try next time I switch on.

I've tried your link http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode safe/troubleshoot mode however the page says...
There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title in other pages, or search the related logs, but you do not have permission to create this page.

Have I made a mistake with your link?

Thanks :)

Thank you sfhowes,

I tried the shift start method, no better. Instead of single lines for each message in box 2, I now have each message occupying two lines (who its from on one line, then underneath is another line of text giving message subject.

Just wondering how to revert back ?

The page open correctly here in Firefox and Edge. I don't know why you get that error message.

The two-line display is called Cards View. Switch to Table View by clicking the icon next to the Quick Filter button.

So, the Message Filters window doesn't look right in safe mode?
