Hello Today, after installing the new Windows, I also installed the Firefox browser. But after I logged into my regular Firefox account, none of my previous account information, including plugins, bookmarks, and passwords, synced. I used this account for several years and all my information was stored in it. please guide me.

Hi

Thank you for your question about the Firefox Sync service.

It appears from your question, that you are using Firefox Sync as a back up service. This is not what Sync is designed to do. The Firefox Sync service takes a copy of the data you wish to include and transfers it to a second device (typically a mobile device such as a tablet or a telephone) running a copy of Firefox. The storage in between all attached devices is both temporary and fragile and is not stable enough to be (and is not designed as) a reliable backup service.

If you have a copy of your Firefox profile for desktop Firefox, you may be able to recover your bookmarks and other data. Please have a read of this article.

If you have a copy of your data on a mobile version of Firefox, please follow these instructions to connect it to Firefox Sync to copy your data.

I have been using Firefox for about 20 years. During these 20 years, I always transferred the current Firefox information to Firefox in the next Windows via email. It was enough to enter my email in the new Firefox and all the information from the previous Firefox was automatically transferred to the new Firefox. But this time when I logged in with the same email, the transfer of information was not done. This time, when I logged into the new Firefox, none of my passwords, bookmarks, and other information were imported. I desperately need the previous information. please help

GAME OVER... After you installed Firefox with nothing, that is what synced and you now have nothing. Sorry. This is my issue with the Sync service. If Mozilla is going to offer it, then it should have a wee bit more logic and repeatedly warn users that only have 1 device synced.

But during the last ten years, when I installed the new Firefox and signed in, all my information was automatically imported into the new Firefox. But this is not happening now

I think you are complicating the matter. The problem is very simple: Until now, whenever I signed in with my email in Firefox, all my information was synchronized; But this time it will not happen. I tested it in several different systems, but it didn't work. I wanted to know the cause of the problem and fix the problem.

Thank you very much for your time. Today I found out the root cause of this problem. After installing the new Windows, when I installed Firefox and tried to log in, I forgot my account password. I chose the forgotten password option and reset the password. I didn't know that when I reset my password, my account will be reset. Even when retrieving the password, a warning was written, which unfortunately I did not read. (I have attached his photo).

However, is there any way I can get my account information for the last 5 years?

The data in the Sync cloud is preencrypted before upload using your Firefox Account credentials. When you reset your password, the old data becomes useless to Firefox and I think it is purged from the Sync cloud.

When you installed the new Windows, did the installer mention making a backup of or preserving any of your data? In a regular Windows 10 Refresh/Reset, it commonly creates this folder:

C:\Windows.old

It's a temp folder maintained for 28 days.

If you find that folder:

Set Windows to show hidden files and folders -- this Microsoft article has the steps:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/view-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-97fbc472-c603-9d90-91d0-1166d1d9f4b5

Then explore that folder up to this point (if it exists):

C:\Windows.old\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

If you find recent data there, please pause and we can suggest how to restore files to your current installation of Firefox.

There is no folder named Windows.old in C drive. I was able to display hidden files and folders, but this folder did not exist

Going forward I would suggest trying to get your data on more than 1 device if you're not backing it up.

I can't believe that all information will be deleted just by changing the account password. As a rule, the information should be stored in the email account and not related to the password.

I have none of the above. However, is there a way to retrieve my account information from the last 5 years?

If you're encountering synchronization issues with Firefox, it could be due to various reasons. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the synchronization problem:

Check Internet Connection: Ensure that you have a stable and active internet connection. Synchronization requires an internet connection to function properly.

Check Firefox Account Credentials: Make sure you're using the correct email address and password for your Firefox Account. You might want to try logging in to your Firefox Account on the Mozilla website to confirm your credentials are working.

Update Firefox: Outdated software can sometimes cause synchronization issues. Update your Firefox browser to the latest version available.

Check Sync Settings:

Open Firefox and click on the three horizontal lines in the upper-right corner to open the menu. Click on "Options" or "Preferences" (depending on your operating system). Select "Firefox Account" from the left-hand menu. Check your synchronization settings, including what data you want to sync (e.g., bookmarks, passwords, history).

No, the problem is not from the above. The problem is that I reset the password of the firefox account. Because of this, all my account information was deleted. It is highly unreasonable that a password reset will erase all account information. Because the user account information must be stored in the email and has nothing to do with the password. How can I contact Firefox Support to resolve this issue?

I AGREE!!! I can't think of another site that does this!!! Imagine changing your email password and then all your email is gone.

This is support, this site. Any data that was stored in the Sync cloud with your old password is no longer available after a password reset -- by design -- for the reasons listed previously.
