Do you suppose you could supply a bit more information? If you have a message showing up in your Inbox, and you double-click the name or subject listed for that message, what, exactly, happens? What version of Thunderbird are you using? (Go to Help > About) What is your operating system (Windows 7, iOS, Linux, ...)?

Maybe someone here can help you, if we have a little more information.
