Save versus Open
This must be the umteenth time i have written and never received a response. Why oh why when i just want to OPEN a document to you also SAVE it? What a waste of time, space and energy to go back in and delete all these non-essential saved documents and.or downloads. Yes i answer "OPEN" when i only want to open the document. Please, please, please give me an answer and tell me how to avoid all this frustration.

Try changing the following preference to true. Enter about:config in the address bar, find the preference and change it to true. browser.download.start_downloads_in_tmp_dir
