I am sending emails from thunderbird to gmail but I see that email body width is less and not full width.

Chosen solution

Try changing mailnews.wraplength to 0 (zero) in Settings/General/Config. editor to make plain text messages wrap to the window width in the message composer, and see if they appear correct in gmail.
