Been using Thunderbird version 20.0.24 since winxp days. Moved it to win10 laptop and it worked for many years until that laptop would not boot any more. The 102.7.2 version of Thunderbird would not use the old profile because the control file extensions changed. Have a 102.7.2 Thunderbird installed and working fine now with newly created profile and accounts.

I have a backup copy of the 20.0.24 version profile. Now I would like to move the data in the 20.0.24 version address book and old emails to the 102.7.2 version of Thunderbird. Is that possible to do?

Chosen solution

For the mail, look for mbox files in the old profile. They are the large files, with no extension, named after folders, e.g. Inbox, Sent, Archive and user-defined folders. The mbox files are in the Mail/<popservername>, Mail/Local Folders and ImapMail/<imapservername> subfolders, and possibly in sbd subfolders. Copy the mbox files, renaming if necessary, into the Mail/Local Folders location of the 102 profile, with TB closed. Restart TB and find the folders under Local Folders in the Folder Pane.

Ver 102 can import old address books. I presume you have a mab addressbook. Click tools>import>import a file>import addressbook
