Thunderbird bady damaged by update to Ventura.

My Thunderbird Email was badly damaged (I lost most of my files) when Apple updated to Ventura. Can I download Thunderbird again somehow? Will it work on Ventura from Apple? Apple wants me to trash the damaged Thunderbird, but then I would lose all the files there. I am not very computer savy. If not, any help is appreciated.
