Downloaded Thunderbird. Put in name, email address, and password. Then is says Configuration found on Mozilla ISP database. When I click done, it begins again checking the password.

I does this if I use available configuration or manual configuration. Hope you can help me.

Start the process again after deleting whatever you added. But this time do NOT enter password. Let Thunderbird finish account recognition and enter password only when prompted at first login.

Thank you so much. That solved my problem. But I have another one.

Thunderbird didn't seem to download properly. I don't have the top two lines. They ones that say: File, Edit, View, etc., and Get mail, write, address book.

Would you be able to help me with this problem?

Those "lines" have not been default since about V38 on windows. However. press the F10 key and when the menu bar appears right click it and select menu bar to be visible all the time.

Personally I go to the view menu and turn on all of the bars, except the spaces bar. (which ironically is turned on by default)
