Hello, usualy if i have open tabs and shutdown thunderbird, when i restart computer or shutdown thunderbird, and open it again, the tabs is still there.

It seems that this feature is gone now. Sometimes i open tabs and let them be there because i want to answer them later. Now all tabs dissapear when restarting my PC or restarting Thunderbird.

How can i get this feature back?

Everything should get saved in the 'Session' file, so it remembers what was last opened when it restarts.

The session file might have got corrupted or it is also possible you have cleanup software on your computer and it likes to 'clean up session and cache files. Programs such as CCleaner, WiseCleaner or even some Anti-Virus products can offer that facility. So if using those products then make the Thunderbird profile folder exempt.

Try the following:

  • Menu icon > Help > More Troubleshooting Information
  • Under 'Application Basics' - half way - Profile Folders - click on 'Open Folder'

It opens in a new window showing the contents of your profile name folder.

  • Exit Thunderbird now - this is important

Delete the following files:

  • session.json
  • xulstore.json

Start Thunderbird. As this will use a new session file, it will not have remembered anything when you exited.

However, after a some use and opening some emails in tabs, exit Thunderbird. Wait a few moments for background processes to complete and then restart Thunderbird.

Report on results.
