I am running our of space on drive C:/. My profile folder is over 10GB, and moving it would solve the space problem. I had some correspondence on here on that topic a while ago, but all my old Thunderbird enquiries seem to have disappeared.

I've seen several similar questions here, and the answers have had variable results. I simply want move everything from drive C: to drive E:, so that when I next open Thunderbird, it finds the profile as if it were still in the original place. I would guess I have to edit profiles.ini to reflect the new location, but I see suggestions that I should not.

Any foolproof answers would be much appreciated.

First, copy the entire profile while Thunderbird is not running. Very important. Next, start thunderbird profile manager. One way is to click windows icon and 'r' key together and on the window that opens, enter thunderbird.exe -p - then click 'create profile, then click next, then enter a name to identify it (e.g., PROFILE) and after that, click the browse button to locate and select the profile where you moved it. Check that all is working okay. Then you're free to delete the profile on drive C. This approach, done by copying the profile, protects you from any serious mistakes.

Thank you for the help. Your advice worked perfectly. I'm sorry it took so long to reply, but I couldn't comment until I had time to perform the move procedure.
