As of the latest update, 102.3.0 (32-bit), the junk mail filter is not deleting mail from POP servers.

That has to be the oddest set of logic I have seen for some time.

You are getting your mail, awaiting Thunderbird to classify it as junk. Then you are asking Thunderbird to get it again, classify it as junk again.

Perhaps try a simplification. If status is junk, remove from pop server is all that filter should be attempting to do.

Everything else has already occurred or is controlled in account settings (The move to part)

I made these adjustments. That said, it had worked for years prior to the latest update.

You do not need to move the message, marking it as junk should instantiate a move. Based on the account setting "move junk messages to" setting.

Thank you again Matt. I removed the "move message to ..." directive.

after the trim though, does it work. I am hearing whispers that the point 3 release fixed some deletion issues and may have created others.

I will have let you know in the near future. It is Saturday night here. Typically on a week day, I receive maybe 150/200 junk email to multiple business accounts each day.

The junk filter is working properly in Thunderbird, but email remains on the server.

Unfortunately, the junk email is still being retained on the server, even after all have been deleted from the junk folder.

I reset the training data before I first posted to this forum.

This behavior is new and it started with the latest update. I have been using Thunderbird since before it was Thunderbird. I have email retained in Eudora dating back to 1997.

This issue persists today; 9/26/2022. Email is properly sent to junk, but not removed from the POP server.

"I am hearing whispers that the point 3 release fixed some deletion issues and may have created others." ?

Has anyone else in the community experienced this issue regarding the removal of email from the server after email is sent to junk?

I'm experiencing an issue with all deleted emails. I empty the trash, but they aren't removed from the server. Thunderbird 102.3.0 (64-bit) on Fedora 36

@Matt Is there another thread or a bugzilla report where this is being discussed@ No deleted emails are being removed from the server after emptying the trash since updating to .3 release.
