When I try to attach documents from my file explorer to my Gmail, it crashes.

I work from home. Every time I try to download a file from my file explorer/file uploader to my Gmail, I get the message "working on it," and then it crashes. It has been happening all day. I restarted the PC, and I even refreshed Firefox. I have files that need to be sent out and I don't know what else to do.
