After last update themes which were not before, have now all gone dark

more options

Hi. I had an add-on theme I was happy with and my email windows were all normal looking and white with black text with the theme image across the top. Now after the latest update today everything has gone to dark mode. I can't use dark mode because it's too hard to determine which messages have been read and which haven't when looking through my inbox, the white font makes read and unread thicknesses look too similar, I have to have the white background and black text to quickly and easily see the diff. I looked through other themes and tried them all with the exception of only 2, they all now make the theme of Thunderbird dark, what is going on? Before anyone tells me to check windows settings and change windows settings from dark to light, I had Windows set to dark mode before and my Thunderbird was fine and my inbox was white with black text despite windows settings being on dark, something in the update has changed the add-on theme. It's only since this latest update that it's made my email dark for almost all the themes where it wasn't the case before. But I did try changing the windows theme to light anyway and even when I did this the themes in Thunderbird keep making Thunderbird dark anyway. In any case, this was this one theme I was happy with before and want to continue using it, but now it's making everything dark I can't, so what is the solution?

so what is the solution?

Perhaps go to the addons and themes on the menu and set the theme to light.

That is a theme all of its own. If I select that theme then I'm not using the theme I was using. The entire email went to dark mode after the update despite me doing nothing and changing nothing. The theme I use was fine before, now it's gone dark and the only thing which changed was the update which is why I'm asking here. But yea, I can use that theme you suggest which is blank, but as that's a theme in itself, it means I'm swapping out of any other theme and I'm not using my theme of choice. I'm currently using another theme which is horrible, but it has the white background in it and at least I have some kind of image at the top, the light theme is blank.

When I fired up Thunderbird this morning, I was informed Thunderbird was automatically updated to 106.0.2. Right away I noticed my theme had changed from the theme I had installed years ago, 'Thunderbird Suave'. It's a light-colored theme that includes the Thunderbird logo at the top right of the header.

Anyway, from my menu bar, I clicked: Tools => Add-Ons and Themes. There should be a visual list of the loaded themes. Even though 'Thunderbird Suave was still selected, it appeared the dark theme was displaying. So I "Enabled" the "Light" theme. The dark theme was then superseded by the light theme. I then re-selected the Thunderbird Suave theme and it again became the updated theme.

If you're interested in seeing what the Thunderbird Suave theme looks like, just go to: Tools => Add-ons and Themes, then do a search for Thunderbird Suave.

Well I click enable on the light theme but then when I go and enable any other theme it just reverts back to dark again for almost all themes.
