Thunderbird REPEATEDLY Keeps Marking Non Junk As Junk. How to TOTALLY disable junk filtering?
Thunderbird REPEATEDLY Keeps Marking Non Junk As Junk giving me a daily headache in manually marking them as NON junk. I very rarely receive junk email, and those I do receive stick out like a sore thumb. I'm capable of deciding myself what is and is not junk. How to TOTALLY disable junk filtering? I mean TOTALLY, not the "usual" fixes given which don't work. There must be something in the config editor I can adjust, surely. Thank You Regards George

Right click the account folder, select settings under the Junk settings for the account uncheck the "Enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account" entry. It is the very first thing in the dialog.
Hi Tom, Thanks for the reply. I've already unchecked "Enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account" but this seems to have absolutely no effect. I also tried checking this item, hoping it would gradually learn what is and what is not junk but it must be a very slow learner because the torrent of NON junk in the junk folder just kept coming! Is this "Enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account" of any use? Checked or unchecked made no difference. I tried some other things, but NON junk keeps popping up in Thunderbird's junk folder forcing me to mark them NON junk on a daily basis. How sure are you that there's no setting in the config editor file to TOTALLY disable ALL junk filtering? If there's no setting, why not? Is there someone out there who is familiar with the config editor file to help me disable it? I tried the "junk" search term in config editor and had a fiddle with the results without success. Any other search term I can try or what settings under the "junk" search term would disable junk filtering? Anyone? Thank You Regards George
Hi George, Junk filtering in Thunderbird is disabled by the setting I provided in my previous answer (source: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1061256 ).
However, this does not mean it can be the only reason why you have e-mails ending up in your Junk folder. Anti-virus software, or clean-up software (e.g. CCleaner) can interfere as well. Next to that, your e-mail server may also have some spamfiltering (e.g. SpamAssasin) active that might cause your e-mail to end-up in your Junk folder.
Please refer to this support thread where somebody had the same experience: https://support.mozilla.org/nl/questions/1363866
Every single email in my aim.com (aol) is marked as junk. Junk status returns seconds after marking as Not Junk. As OP did, I disabled junk controls on that account, to no avail. I also closed and restarted Thunderbird, and reset learned controls globally. This first occurred this morning.
All other accounts are fine.

Stop messing with the Config Editor unless you know exactly what you're doing.
