Ease of use... no more....
I'm about to say "Screw You Thunderbird!" I've been using it for years... Generally, I can use logic and find my answer - but now Thunderbird has become to bulky and unusable I'm thinking about getting away from it and going to Outlook. (YUCK) All I want to do is enlarge the font in the message pane.. but when I look for help, it tells me to go to "Tools---Options"... DUH! That choice does not exist. I've been exploring Thunderbird for two days trying to find the answer to that SIMPLE FRIGGIN question.... There IS NO ANSWER! Just sloppy talk, talk, talk, talk talk... Getting help for Thunderbird is a thing of the past. Now the users seem to be a bunch of elitist a-holes.
I'll give you one more chance... If I can't get a logical and truthful.. EASY STRAIGHT FORWARD answer in the next few hours... I'm gone... I guess TB is no longer the platform to use.

Was that reading or writing! Some folk, really are rather ignorant and force font sizes in emails that while they look good to them are totally inappropriate for the recipient. With this in mind Thunderbird makes setting font sizes in email as difficult as possible outside of the normal larger smaller type definitions. This does not help you in reading, but it does go to explain why we sort of go out of our way to make using numbers on composing hard. Simply it ignores the screen the mail will be read on.
When reading these emails you receive that are simply far to small you have access to zoom. Hold the Ctrl key and either scroll the mouse wheel or use the + key to increase the size of the email being displayed. The - (minus key) makes the displayed email smaller. This works exactly the same as similar functions if Firefox for poorly formed web pages that display smaller than they should.
The view menu also has a font size option which can be used to increase or decrease the size of fonts used through out the application.

I is unfortunate that from the two paragraphs you posted I got one short sentence about what you were wanting to do, and that was not really a complete question as you did not say if it was for writing or reading.
If you have feedback you wish so share. Please use the appropriate web site. This is support. On the help menu in Thunderbird is a feedback link. But to save you time it will direct you to this web site. https://connect.mozilla.org/
Please be advised that support and support documentation are undertaken by volunteers, as is the internationalization of the documents. The ability to update the library of support documents is exceedingly limited. I find myself to busy earning a living to spend much time there. You are however welcome to pick up the mantle of volunteer and update some of the documents. Most need references to preferences in instructions to be changed to settings following the release of Thunderbird 102. Lots of them did not get updates for the change from options when the previous version was released. But given those volunteering generally spread their time between here, bug reports and user support documents. The documents run a distant last so your assistance would be welcome.
