I have two different outlook email accounts.

When configuring them, I cannot send emails. The SMPT server user name is the same for both and there is no way to save two different user names.

Please help.

One account is hotmail, the other uses a personal domain name. The accounts work perfectly outside Thundirbird. The problem is when I need to send an email.

Thank you.

Dear David,

I MANAGED TO SOLVE IT!!!!

I deleted all the accounts, and reinstalled them from scratch.

Now it works like a charm, who knows what the problem was.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR MESSAGES AND YOUR EFFORT!

You need to specify a second smtp server, even though it is the same name. The different email id will differentiate the two.

David thanks for your answer.

I do have two different email ID, how can I specify a second smtp server? its the same for every account no? what changes is the access data?

at tools>accountsettings>Outgoing servers you can add the server info and also the email address to which it applies. THEN, go to accountsettings>youraccount and at bottom of that pane is place to identify the smtp server that corresponds with the account.

Dear David,

I have done EXACTLY that... and both my accounts are sharing the same smtp identity. Even when they are different accounts, somehow thunderbird insists in that only one smtp identity is possible.

What else can it be?

Could you post a screenshot of accountsettings>Outgoing Server (SMTP) settings? And have you checked the account page for each to see that each uses a different server setting?

In red are the variables I change.

The SMPT server is the EXACT SAME for both email addresses

As far as I understand, each account should have their own SMPT user name

But this thing thunderbird seems unable to do something as simple as this

What am I doing wrong?

And this is an excerpt of the problem I have

With my personal email address I can send emails no problem, but when I try to send it with the hotmail address it says this:

"Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: SendAsDenied; xxx@xxx.com not allowed to send as xxx@hotmail.com; STOREDRV.Submission.Exception:SendAsDeniedException.MapiExceptionSendAsDenied; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message [BeginDiagnosticData]Cannot submit message"

And when then I change the SendAs to the hotmail username on the SMPT server, then my personal address wont work.

Thunderbird INSISTS in that I can only have ONE SMPT address with Outlook

In accountsettings>Outgoing servers, you can apply a name of your choice to each server. Then, in the accountsettings for an account, specify the specific smtp server for that account.

David,

Im afraid this is not the case, I change it for one, and it appears changed on the second one. They are a mirror one of the other BUT JUST FOR OUTGOING SETTINGS, because they work fine to receive emails.

Im puzzled.
