Hi, thanks for your time. I've been using thunderbird since 2005 , a week ago tried to open it but my accounts where lost prompting me to create an account ! Version was 91.7 (x64) . I immediately tried to restore my profile with the usual way but no luck. Finally I installed an older version and restored an older profile . Now after consecutive updates I am on the latest version , I can get and sent mails but every time I open it keeps asking me to add security exception . If it helps , same day my firefox (latest x64 version) lost access to internet whereas other browsers like chrome or opera were fine. Firefox and thunderbird where installed at default path c:\ but thunderbird profile was in another hdd. 3 gmails, 1 aol, 1 yahoo, 1 hotmail win 7 x64 8gb ram , 3 disks

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the hints. Problem solved with a clean Tb installation on the secondary hdd where my profile used to be and not in default c:\ path. I still can't get my old hotmail to work properly (pop or imap ) , like it used to be, it logs in and then no message or anything so temporarily I set it to forward... I can now confirm that before latest update of my old installation Tb was installed in secondary hdd (not wanting to overuse c:\ ssd) and after update the installation founded in c:\ with no profile of course ...!!! Avast (or occasionally malwarebytes with out firewall or firefox addon) and ZoneAlarm never caused any trouble (once set ) regarding Firefox or Thunderbird. I am sorry I did not post the set up earlier ! Maybe all this can help someone !

re: it keeps asking me to add security exception - same day my firefox (latest x64 version) lost access to internet.

This sounds like your Anti-Virus is wanting the security exception.

Exit Firefox. Exit Thunderbird. Access 'Firewall' which might be controlled by Anti-Virus product.

Thunderbird and Firefox both need to be set up as allowed programs otherwise the Firewall will block access to internet.

It has been known that an update can cause the Firewall to get confused and think it is a different program. So if it is already allowed then block it, ok it and then go back into the Firewall and set as allowed and ok it. Then start Thunderbird.

If you are using Bitdefender, it could be because it is trying to scan SSL

In Bitdefender: Settings-> Privacy Control Settings -> turn "Scan SSL" off
