Suggestions to avoid annotance

Fist I would like to participate with Firefox more - I want to become more a part of the community - and add in my consultant expertise Next I would like to suggest several things, but today just one - your Updates

I cannot take this anymore. Every couple weeks there is some update, and it is unacceptable - it disrupts my life. I do not want to restart my computer, I have dozens of documents and files open that I am working on, and this interferes with my daily routines, and as a top activist in your circle u are not yet aware of... its KIND OF important!

Straight up a vast majority of these updates should be released in 'packs' around the start of the month, and then I will not mind, but every couple weeks and the icon to download pops up continuously and then restarts my computer by force - that is MSN bully actions - like come on team... it is annoying as hell!

It's gotta change as it is even more annoying than bookmarks being saved on my home page in the top spots - blank is better than something that is not needed there - the Firefox browser home is a VERY important organizational tool for your members AND is your 'face' to the world that u are not using even at par to help your success.

As for other suggestions I would like to help in the future. Especially when it comes to you guys asking for with emails to get operational capital - I want to help - so I have sent letters in response and received no answers! If the Capitalist Elite will collapse the economy to repurchase everything back at half price, during that time many entities that receive public funding will no longer survive, as the public will be in bread lines.

Hi

Thank you for your feedback and it is great to hear that wish to contribute to Mozilla. You can learn more about opportunities to contribute at https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/contribute/

With regards to updates, if you are using the main Release branch of Firefox, you should expect an update once a month. There are occasions where we are aware of a significant issue that warrants a more immediate update, something that is done with consideration of any inconvenience it may cause.

I hope that this helps.

No another one just popped up, like right after I downloaded the last one! I'm dismissing them! No Seburo, it is not once a month... sure it is sporadic, but like now it is just too much.

Now u say the 'release version' - I want the best version

I believe u will need to send your programmers and upper management a note telling them that a customer is finding it annoying - and u watch - the release dates of updates are not once a month...

Also I want to be able to become part of your management team here in Vancouver. How can I at the very least begin to interact with the community?

Hi,

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers. If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues.

You can also file a bug report or feature request. See File a bug report or feature request for Mozilla products for details.

You can take control of when your updates install by making a change on the Settings page. On Windows, either:

  • main menu button > Settings
  • (menu bar) Tools > Settings
  • type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter to load it

In the search box at the top of the page, type update and Firefox should filter to the "Firefox Updates" section. Should look roughly like this:

Select "Check for updates but let you choose to install them". Firefox will write that to a shared settings file and NOT to the preferences file in your current profile. (Old instructions to make changes in about:config have not been effective in recent years.)

You don't have to worry that you'll miss an update: Firefox will drop down a panel from the main menu button informing you of available updates, and you either can download it immediately or postpone it. You should get daily reminders.

Note for Mac OS users: it should be similar on your OS.

Note for Linux users: if you installed through a package manager, your package manager usually dictates the timing of updates and this setting probably will be ineffective.

I've used Firefox for as long as that was possible, and I cannot remember any update requiring a system restart. I don't know what is causing that to happen on your computer, but it is troubling.
