Hi I am not very good with the terminology but I will try my best.

Now I am using Windows 11, it is grouping windows (which I don't like).

When I try to write a new email in TB, it opens a new window, rather than a tab.

I'm sure this behaviour has changed from before but I can't see how to change it back.

In the recent past, I think, you could see on the main Thunderbird screen a tab which was a new e-mail waiting to complete/send. This worked well for me.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks

re : When I try to write a new email in TB, it opens a new window,

Nothing wrong. The 'Write' window has always opened in a new window. It has never been any different.

If you were composing a new email and saved a copy as a draft, so you could finish it later. That draft email will be saved in the 'Drafts' folder. If you opened that email to continue composing it would also open in a new Write' window.

If you had finished composing the email and want to 'Send Later', then that email will be saved in the 'Outbox' folder which is located in the 'Local Folders' mail account.

It may be convenient for some people to open a folder in a new tab because it maybe quicker to select especially they have a lot of folders or are composing a lot of emails which they are saving in Drafts or have a list of finished emails which they want to 'Send Later' and saved in Outbox. Right click on eg:'Drafts' and select 'Open in new tab'
