I am experiencing this issue ONLY in Firefox, not in Edge or Chrome. Thus, it tells me it's not my Windows security settings or my antivirus security settings. The issue is with the website ancestry.com and ONLY in one specific section: When I want to create a story and add it to an ancestor's profile page. It doesn't matter if I copy and paste something or if I just enter text manually. When I try to submit it I receive an Access denied error 21 message saying access is blocked by security settings. Furthermore, the stories I have already added to ancestor's profile pages are no longer visible on Firefox - there's just a blank white screen. However, again, they are readily visible in both Edge and Chrome, which again tells me this is not a Windows setting or an antivirus setting or even a firewall setting, but a Firefox setting.

For the life of me, I cannot figure this out. I've tried to google Access denied error 21 but I get absolutely no results. I've tinkered with my security settings in Firefox and nothing helps. I've cleared cache and cookies over and over again. I've even gone so far as to disable both my firewall and antivirus program temporarily and again, no difference.

I like to research in Firefox, but with all the new changes to layout and now this problem, I'm really getting fed up. Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

Have you recently changed carrier service, use a VPN, proxy or other service for connecting to the website? If this is your computer try this below:

Click Start, and type "cmd". - Right-click Command Prompt and run it as administrator. - Copy and paste the below one line at a time, pressing enter each time: netsh winsock reset - and press Enter. netsh int ip reset - and press Enter. ipconfig /release - and press Enter. ipconfig /renew - and press Enter. ipconfig /flushdns - and press Enter

You could also try resetting your DNS service with the following steps: - Press Windows Key+R and type "services.msc" and press OK. - Scroll down to find DNS Client. - Right-click it and click Restart

And if this fails, find your router, unplug it, wait 2minutes or more, plug it back in, wait 10 secs, then unplug it again. Do this 3-5 times and your ISP should get the message. The rest is automatic.

let me know if that helps

Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

FredMcD -I think it would be helpful to know what Error 21 is. All it says is that this request was blocked by security rules. But what security rules? Which ones? I disabled all the security on Firefox and refreshed. All my cache and cookies are cleared. Then I disabled my firewall and my antivirus, which is Bitdefender. Still have the same problem. However, as I said, this isn't happening on Edge or Chrome, and is only happening on Ancestry on Firefox, after Firefox's most recent update. And I'm not getting any warning about the website certificate, other than that ancestry is using one that is not recognized by firefox. Not sure what to do about that, but that might be it? idk.

Swim - No, I haven't made any of those changes. And your suggestion would most likely mean that I'd be experiencing the problem on all browsers, which is not the case. The only thing that changed is a Firefox update.

Fred McD - I'm not using a private browser. The tracking is set to standard, so not using smartblock, either. In any case, I've whitelisted/excepted ancestry.com from these rules, so it's not running on that website, anyway.

The very first thing I did, and always do in a trouble situation, is to clear cache and cookies. When it didn't work for just the ancestry.com website, I cleared cache, cookies, and history for all websites. That didn't help, either.

I also disabled all the extensions, but I don't have any extensions running on the ancestry.com website, anyway.

The only thing I see is that the certificate is indeed issued by Bitdefender and not recognized by Microsoft. But again, disabling Bitdefender did not resolve the problem, either. And in any case, even if that is the problem, how can I resolve it? It's not that I can't load the website, it's a specific item on the website that I cannot view or use, which is very puzzling. So I'm not sure that's the problem, especially since the problem replicates itself even with Bitdefender disabled.

I haven't tried troubleshooting mode yet; I'm a little leery of doing so after I read that Firefox can get "stuck" in that mode!

FredMcD - I did have another reply but for some reason, Firefox said it had to be approved by a moderator before posting. Not sure why....

That is a website error. Have you contacted their support?

To get out of Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode, all you have to do is restart the browser.
