since Dec 17th thunderbird will not accept password
How can I access my account if thunderbird insists wrong password

The password that Thunderbird uses must be exactly the same as works to sign in to webmail. Are you aware of making a change to an online account password? Or other email security setting? If anything changed with that online account login, Thunderbird needs to be updated to match. So, please connect to webmail and check the password still works for your online email. Then please post the exact wording of the error you see - it most likely comes from a specific server. Thanks.
