Firefox Relay
I understand that I am talking to the community of volunteers. At least that is what it says.
But I still have to express my anger, that it is so difficult to get help with firefox issues.
The developers who write the sites and make the apps, hide behind the scenes.
The firefox information and so called help pages are full of ambiguous double speak and round and round loopy useless or vague answers and dead ends.
Then I am told to be nice when you guys cause so many maddening problems?
I did not cause the problem!
That is not called good service.
That is called round around.
The issue now is, that in the last couple of days this new "Relay" thing pops up and prevents me from doing anything on line with my email address for the last two days.
The instructions for Relay are nonsensical.
The settings site does not work.
Options to opt out, or cancel it are not there.
I did not ask for this service, at least not that I am aware of.
And it appears that if I want to use it, I am forced to pay for it.
That is called extortion.
I have lost a lot of time, screwing around with this problem. And figuring out how to get here to this complaint or support form.
I am spittin mad!

Hey David,
Honestly sounds like you might have accidentally installed the Relay extension into your FireFox browser. The FireFox Relay is honestly Opt-In. And its Free, unless you want more power added to it; and even then its only 99¢ per month.
The Relay Extension -- If I'm correct since I can only go by some of what you noted-- is a little hexagon icon with an '*' in the center with a purple-magenta gradient color. If you know how to right-click (on macOS its control+click on trackpad or mouse), then right-click on the icon I mentioned before, and select Remove Extension.
You can also just go to the Add-Ons page for the FireFox Browser: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/private-relay/?utm_source=fx-relay&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=install-addon and if FireFox Relay in installed, then the option should be there to Remove.
Hopefully that helps. There was not much info provided like what OS are you on, and so on. The screenshot added shows the url I listed but also where that extension-icon should be located at and what it looks like when you right click but on macOS Monterey.

Where, when you are about to login, you see an icon like that of the screenshot? If so, then it is the FireFox Relay extension has been added to your browser.
It would have been an honest mistake, but it would have still be Opt-In, sadly. Nonetheless you can remedy that by the previous notes. But feel free to add any additional notes that could help.

Thank you for getting back to me.
I use Windows 10 on a desk top.
I see the magenta hexagon.
When I right click on it, I do not get "remove extension".
I get open in new tab.
I go there and get this:

Useless.
Then I click on the link you provided in your first reply and get this:
https://relay.firefox.com/accounts/profile/
I somehow figure out how to disable or remove the extension.
Then when I want to use the form where my email address is required, I get a different icon, a series of yellow lines or small bars, if I recall correctly
which also prevent me from entering my email address. When I right click on it, I get a pop up msg that says, fb can still track you, or collect your email address.
So it goes round and round.
After some time, I figured out how to use the relay and now I got into the site I wanted.
I think it is confusing.
How many alias emails do I get with the free relay app?

I believe that you get 5 free separate email addresses. For actual emails, the limit is quite high, as long as you don't get sent large attachments.
If you were not aware, Relay works by putting a middleman between you and the service, allowing you to receive emails from the service without the service knowing your personal email address.

Do you mean I get five alias emails?
And the five alias emails can be used on any number of different sites?
Or just to five different sites? And those alias become assigned to those sites only?
Say, for example I go to 20 different sites in a month, where I need to enter my email address,
what do I do?
Do I have to up my subscription to the paid version at 99 cents/ month?
You get five distinct email addresses to do as you please with.

Why is there only an install, or uninstall for this extension? Why can't I just turn it off temporarily?
And what happens to be previous pseudo-emails created after the extension is uninstalled? From what David described, it appears to me it's in a limbo and is continuing its function.
The extension does not function as the service itself. It only acts as a quick way to input the relay email addresses.
To manage the emails, look at https://relay.firefox.com/
Note that if you delete the relays, any account signed up under them may be lost

I did not like Firefox Relay, at all.
I fully understood what it was and how it worked.
It was a nightmare to deal with.
And I really have not had any real problems with my email being hijacked and used, that I am aware of anyways.
But, last I checked, I am still getting charged for Relay.
How do I cancel that charge?
