messages immediately disappear from my inbox and then they disappear from my server
I have used Thunderbird for over 10 years with just s few problems. Recently I had to update my account settings when our local service provider was sold. I got help from the company and everything worked fine for a week and then I started having problems. It seems Thunderbird deletes my messages even before they get off the server. Sometimes I can get messages downloaded from the server and sometimes only some of them. The messages immediately disappear from my inbox and then they disappear from my server as well so I can't even check my webmail site for messages. I have looked in server settings to try to find someplace that will let me set a time for which to delete messages but I can't find anything in the thunderbird site to do that. What do you suggest?

Q: What was the old service provider called? Q: What is new service provider called? Q: Did all emails get migrated by service provider from old to the new server ? Q: Did you previously (with old service provider) use a pop or imap mail account? Knowing this is important.
Q: Precisely what did you update? In 'Account Settings' > 'Server Settings' for the account: Q: Server Type: what does it say 'POP Mail Server' or 'IMAP Mail Server' Q: What is the 'Server Name' ? Q: What Port is used ? Q: What is the Connection Security that is selected? Q: What is the Authentication Method that is selected?
It would be much easier if you could post an image - you only need to hide the 'User Name'. Then it would also show all the 'Server Setting' information regarding checking for messages.
IF POP: Q: Do you have 'Leave messages on server' selected ? Q: Do you have any of the delete options selected - if yes then what have you set up?
Q: In left pane under the Account Name, do you see 'Synchronisation & Storage' ? If yes, select it and then post image of settings. If no then select 'Disk Space' and post image showing settings.
