Junk folder keeps marking legit emails as junk, no matter what I do

I have an email client on my phone, and fortunately this one is not marking these emails as junk, so I am seeing them. In thunderbird I have tried marking as not junk - it moves out of junk for 20 secs, then comes back. I have tried moving manually to inbox 5 times - comes back every time.

Other threads suggest this could be my server. If so, how does that explain that my phone emal client is not moving thenm to junk? I don't know how to paste a screen shot into here. thanks, Sera

well if it is your server the flame icon indicating the mail is junk will not be coloured as in the following

Instead the mail will look like this.

your prone may well be configured to use the pop protocol so spam is not included, and neither is synchronization to the server of things like deletion of mail.

Hi Matt Thank you. Some have the icon & some don't. The latest 2 don't - so that's my server sending them to junk?

Both Thunderbird & phone are using IMAP. So I am confused by what you mean.

I believe my phone is set to synchronise, however I do notice that only some things I delete on one also get deleted on the other - which has confused me too.

Would you be able to explain a bit more as I'm very ignorant about this? Thanks Sarah

Hi Mat, You haven't responded to my last message, so I thought I would send you a screen shot, very inexpertly annotated.

thanks, sarah
