IMAP password change is not working in Thunderbird
I have seem this same problem in multiple Mozilla Thunderbird support pages, but not seen seen solution for this basic problem. If i change my IMAP secure password the Mozilla Thunderbird will give "wrong password" error. Why is that? I have used 20 years now and had to go HTTPS web version of of it. I created new Thunderbird IMAP account and it worked fine. Except i lost my local laptop folders. But when i changed again my account passwords the Thunderbird says ....."wrong password". Sorry to see that you haven't fix this bug .... i have to soon find another email application....

When you change a password with the mail provider, it's necessary to remove the old password from Saved Passwords in Options/Preferences, restart TB, enter the new password when prompted, and check the box to have it stored in Saved Passwords. If you still get a password error, it could be because the provider has changed their authentication requirements to use e.g. OAuth2 authentication, an app password or a secure mail key.
