I am trying to update but it just shows this all the time. I do not want to reset my browser because of all settings and stuff I would have to setup it all again I am afraid.

So, I went ahead and removed all profiles in about:profiles which I did before also but it did not work that time. I then closed all firefox processes in task manager. Rebooted my device and it seems to be working for now.

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

Install Older Version Of Firefox {web link}

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Note: Check Both Folders

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

Do Not remove any profile folders.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

I do not want to perform a clean install and then setup all over again. I will just let it be then. Maybe switch browser or something if it does not get solved on it's own in sometime.

My instructions, while long, only take a few minutes.

I think firefox is updating itself but on the update checker it is not getting updated. The last update is of 30 as it shows in the troubleshooting panel but it still shows RESTART TO APPLY UPDATE which does not work. Maybe it is just stuck?

Did you do the clean reinstall?

Hi Amay, Don't worry, your user data will be kept intact. ☺️

I would also try the solutions in the following article: How to fix the Update Failed error message when updating Firefox

Is there any reason why you're using Nightly? Firefox Nightly is for developers and testers.

Note that this usually means that you have multiple Firefox windows open, each with their own profile. Only the first instance you open is able to update the browser. Other instances show that message if you open "Help -> About Nightly"

I only have one profile in my nightly and below are some screenshots that says the Firefox is actually updated but the update dialog does not show it. Does it mean that Firefox itself is getting updated but it is just the updating panel which is having this bug?

Nevermind anymore. I have moved on to dev version.

This is happening again even after a clean install.
